SPD skeptical about cannabis law
BERLIN taz | Actually, the bill should have been passed in the Bundestag long ago . But cannabis legalization, which the traffic light announced as a central project, remains in limbo. And now the interior ministers of the federal states are also opposing the law, including those of the SPD. Federal Interior Minister Nancy Faeser (SPD) also has concerns.
The Federal Cabinet had already approved a draft law by Health Minister Karl Lauterbach (SPD) for the legalization of cannabis in August . This will initially allow cannabis cultivation at home and in cultivation clubs, and later also in model projects in licensed shops. The traffic light factions in the Bundestag then revised the bill again for weeks . The law was supposed to be passed in the Bundestag in December and come into force on April 1st.
