In Berlin, the first legal joint with cannabis from a social club could be sold as early as this winter . Jana Halbreiter, the chairwoman of the "Green Leaf Society", told the German Press Agency that they expect the first batch to be available in mid-December 2024 at the earliest. The association is so far the only one in Berlin that has received a permit for the communal cultivation of cannabis .
A final notification from the building authority is still missing in order to legally start operating the facility, explained Halbreiter. The exact timing depends on this. However, there is already a cultivation area . According to the association's chairwoman, it is an existing commercial property. A total of 300 square meters of space with several rooms is available. "We plan to grow between 300 and 400 plants in the first run, but due to the large area, we still have a lot of potential for expansion."
