The Role

The Legal Counsel specializing in HR and Contracts plays a critical role in supporting the company’s legal and compliance initiatives. This position is responsible for delivering comprehensive legal advice and support on a wide range of HR and contractual matters.

Key Responsibilities

  • HR Law and Compliance:

    • Advise on all aspects of employment law, including hiring, termination, performance management, and employee relations.

    • Develop and implement HR policies and procedures to ensure compliance with local and international labor laws.

    • Manage employee contracts, including drafting, reviewing, and negotiating employment agreements.

    • Provide guidance on employee benefits, compensation, and equity.

  • Contract Negotiation and Drafting:

    • Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of contracts, including vendor agreements, partnership agreements, and commercial contracts.

    • Ensure that all contracts are compliant with applicable laws and regulations.

    • Manage contract lifecycle, including renewals, amendments, and terminations.

  • Risk Management:

    • Identify and mitigate legal risks associated with HR and contractual matters.

    • Conduct regular legal audits and compliance reviews.

    • Develop and implement risk management strategies.

  • Regulatory Compliance:

    • Stay up-to-date on evolving legal and regulatory changes in the cannabis industry.

    • Ensure compliance with EU-GMP standards and other relevant regulations.

    • Provide guidance on regulatory issues related to HR and contracts.

Qualifications

  • Law degree from an accredited law school.

  • Experience in employment law, contract law, and regulatory compliance.

  • Strong understanding of EU labor law and regulations.

  • Excellent drafting and negotiation skills.

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks.

  • Fluency in Portuguese and English.

  • Experience in the cannabis industry is a plus.
