The Czech Ministry of Justice has proposed an amendment to legalise the cultivation of up to three cannabis plants for personal use by persons over the age of 21.
Redefining the legal limits of cannabis cultivation
Under the proposed changes, growing up to 3 cannabis plants for personal use will no longer be considered a criminal offence . However, growing more than 5 plants will still be a criminal offence .
In addition to these thresholds, legal possession of cannabis will also be subject to specific limits. Individuals will be allowed to possess up to 50 grams of dried cannabis at home and 25 grams outside their home.
Currently, possession of more than 5 cannabis plants or 10 grams of dry matter for personal use is considered a criminal offence. The ministry now wants to redefine these limits, setting the threshold between an offence and a criminal offence at 5 plants or 100 grams of dry matter inside the home, and 50 grams outside the home.
